Simone Biles
A gymnast Simone Biles captured her 20th world championship gold medal when Team USA won its seventh consecutive title in Antwerp Belgium on October 4. With 33 gold medals, she has the highest number of medals on the gymnastics stage. This is not just the Olympics. Biles has performed the vault with such difficulty that it was the first that women could do it at an international scale. Before it was known as Biles' Yurchenko double pike vault,, the technique has now been named the Biles II. This record-breaking gymnast is performing in her very first international competition since 2021, will be competing in an individual all-around final on Oct. 6. In 1997, in Columbus Ohio Simone was taken out of the home of her birth mother who suffered from addiction. She was put in foster care together with her siblings. Ron, a retired Air Force vet and Nellie retired nurse were the primary caregivers for Simone as she turned just six years old. The couple also took in their youngest sister Adria. Their great aunt took in Simone's older siblings.
